The font you use improves a brand’s perceived tone and voice which helps greatly in properly communicating to a specific audience or target market.
Readability, tone, and consistency are very important considerations when choosing a font. In the case of specific branding needs - and an appropriate font is not available, a custom-made one can be created.
We have designed and developed a typeface for a prominent online portal using 50s industrial and technical sans serif typefaces as inspiration.
Open Sauce Fonts is a font superfamily that we developed for our internal type system. It is a compact typeface that is optimised for better viewing small text on screen and print. Open Sauce fonts are under the SIL Open Font License and are going to be actively improved and tested.
Requirement: We needed to have a general-use typeface that would look good in small sizes on screen, web, and print.
Solution: We have added ink traps to the Open Sauce Sans variant for better rendering on-screen. The Open Sauce font's structure has been kept compact for a uniform and smoother text reading experience.
The result: a typeface that retains its details on-screen and keeps the darkness of the text box consistent - enhancing the reading experience.
